Centaurée dress Sew-along

Deer and Doe is having a sew-along over on their blog right now for their new dress, Centauree' dress. I love how simple this dress is but yet it has so many great details to it as well. Perfect for a sun dress for me!

Pardon the pictures, my kids took them, but the bodice has a "star" shape to it, ever so clever f these gals! Now on my dress I had to make  FBA (full bust adjustment) to it. After having five babies these girls will not fit in most pattern tops. While the task seemed daunting Deer and Doe takes you through all the steps to make the adjustments. I was worried there for a few minutes that it might not work as well as it should but I held my breath a worked through each step slowly. It was totally worth it, the dress fits like a glove now! I really want to try another one in lawn or voile now. This one is in a quilting cotton I have held onto for a few years form Riley Blake. I love the yellow and gray together so much and with the weight of the fabric it does not blow up as easy so it great to wear to the park with the kids.

If you don't have this pattern I highly recommend it! It sews up very quick and has such wonderful results. I truly love the bodice of this dress and the straps, it's a perfect summer dress.

  1. I love this dress! Is it hard to achieve a good fit with all of those bodice seams though? I wouldn't know where to begin with an FBA ...

  3. Your are stunning in your Centaurée dress, great job on the dress and particularly on the tricky FBA! :D
If you are planning to re-make the dress, I think it would be worth it to raise the waist a tiny bit because it seems to be a little bit under your natural waist now (probably related to the FBA) ;)

    1. Thank you! It's a great pattern and yes I do plan on making at least one more this summer. I think I will try to raise the waist a bit on the next one.

  5. Thanks for posting this! I wasn't sure how this dress would look on a woman larger than a size small, but it looks great on you. Maybe I will have to brave the FBA for this one... All those pieces have me a little nervous.

  6. Hi,

You look amazing in this dress, comfy, I just discovered your blog with this post, and I will read others.
As I have the same curves than yours, I wonder, how many centimeters you added with your FBA ?
I am on adding 2 cm but, I think it's too much or...I don't know how to draw the curve between the 1 and 2 pieces.

Thank you for your answer, and see you soon.

    1. Thank you very much! I really do love this dress, it is worn more than any other dress I have sewn. If you follow this link here it will take you through each step on how to make the FBA for the dress, I am not really sure how much cm was really added to the original dress pattern. http://blog-en.deer-and-doe.fr/374-centauree-sal-full-bust-adjustment/ It really did work wonderfully it just took some time to redraw each pattern piece.
