Sewing for the Boy

Remember this outfit that I sewn a while back?? Well I finally was able to get my little guy to stand still long enough for some photos of him wearing it! This outfit has been worn many times already and is holding up very nicely. A big plus for any clothes for for an active toddler/preschooler boy.

Outfit #1. This was made using the Oliver and S Parachute Polo top and the After School pants minus the pockets. I made the top in all knit and the pants are sewn in a back/grey chambray with a charcoal grey top stitching. Both are great go-to patterns for boys. They sure are mine!

The pants are sewn in three panels on each leg so a perfect way to show off top stitching details. When I first sewn these pants I feel in love with the back pockets, I still love them after three years.  For a girl version the pattern has ruffles that can be added to the pants front pockets and the side seam as well, although they do run on the slim side. That's why they are a perfect fit for my son because he is so thin.

The polo has a real button placket as well as front pockets. LOVE. I have made my youngest three of these shirts so far and want to make my other sons some as well. I am not sure they will wear it but hey I can try right?!?

Prince C favorite part is the pocket. Perfect for rocks and feathers.

Outfit #2 A Field Trip set. (for O+S of coarse)

The shirt is new, size 3T and the shorts are the ones from his second birthday party, size 18 months. The shorts have held up very, very well. All his clothes really have and he loves to wear mam made.  That's why I love sewing for my little man. :-)

All fabric came form Whimsical Fabric for the top outfit.

Christmas Baby

Do you remember this outfit here for Mr W? Well this whole outfit was made out of left over fabric from that! (yep fussy cutting with no left over fabric at all!)
I used the Oliver + S Sail boat for the top. I used the charcoal corduroy for facings to make it warm and cozy for cold days, which I hope we will have! The winter sock monkey fabric is from Hobby Lobby.
For the pants I used charcoal corduroy with the O+S After School pattern. I did make some mods on these, like I left off the front pockets. I seen this pair here on the flicker group that I just love! I had to copy!  You should see all her little boy clothing that she sews, I am so inspired by everything that she sews! (a bit jealous too!) I also made these a 12-18 month size with the 6-12 month length. With his nappies the old pair was getting snug in the waist.
These is nothing that says I love you like a label on your tush! Merry first Christmas baby boy!

Another Outfit for Our soon-to-be Baby Boy

Oh what fun it is to sew tiny things for our new boy! I am finding it very addictive. :) This outfit in the Oliver + S After School Pattern that came out this past fall. The pattern was made for girls but also works great for little boys too. (for girls there is a adorable ruffle for the pants!) I did buy it with the idea of making it for Sweet pea this past fall but wasn't able to get to it. I am sorry it took me this long to try it out now.
I made this outfit in 6-12 month size for the baby for this fall. I used the Children at Play fabric line for the top, I do love this fabric line!! The salvage makes for great tags!
I tried something a bit new by adding the name tag to the sleeve. I am liking this for the baby's tops.
The pants were made out of a wales cord. It so soft to the touch so I think it will work great for baby clothes. Yes, it has real working pockets on the pants! They are so tiny and cute.  :)
I did put a size tag in the pants too. That way I will remember what size they are later.
My favorite part of these pants are the great detail that goes into them. The sides are pieced together with lovely top stitching. And those tiny back pockets just get me. They make me smile. :)

I have one more piece of clothing to make for this outfit, a boy version of the Sunday Brunch Jacket for O+S then back to some Sweet pea love. The poor thing spent the whole time I made this asking "is this for me?" When I told her it was baby bothers she would give me an evil look and tell me "not for baby brother" lol. I think she has become a little green eyed monster when it comes to sewing for her. ;)

Happy Sewing!!
