A Little Bit Of Christmas For Prince C to Match His Big Sister

It is Prince C's turn for some Christmas sewing! After sewing his sister Sweet pea's dress he requested a Nutcracker vest to match her dress. Lucky for me he is so tiny still I was able to squeak out a vest just for him! I only had to add fabric firm my stash for the front lining of the vest. The fabric is just the right color to match lucky us! It was also so wonderful to find out that I can make vests with only scrap fabrics, Prince C was so thrilled that he went "shopping" through my scrap bin. 

See the happy dancing boy?!? Yep he was that happy over this outfit! 

I used Oliver and S Art Museum vest and pant pattern and he is wearing his shirt from Easter that I made him. The pants are made in a Fabric Finders Rust color corduroy. This pattern never disappoints either. 

The pants have slanted front pockets with welt pockets on the back and on the vest. I made some fun welt pockets for his vest. Christmas vest should be fun right?! 

He is already looking for Santa too. When you are three it seams to take a very long time for him to come. 

I think it is so sweet that these two love to match still, I hope they do not out grow it for while. They are really best friends as best friends can be. Every mother's dream come true. 

Yep, they are plotting together some mischief. ;-) 

For Prince C's second top choice for Christmas fun is a white tree knit Field Trip T-shirt. I did double the width of the neck band to give it more of a turtle neck feel and too keep my little guy warm. 

The above photo was the only smiling photo I got this time, he was busy playing the "Wheels on the bus". He still looks pretty cute though. So round one is done and on to round two of Christmas sewing!! 

**a Note to readers, I did offer to make the older boys the very same outfit but they declined. I don't know why? ha-ha!!**

Sewing for the Boy

Remember this outfit that I sewn a while back?? Well I finally was able to get my little guy to stand still long enough for some photos of him wearing it! This outfit has been worn many times already and is holding up very nicely. A big plus for any clothes for for an active toddler/preschooler boy. 

Outfit #1. This was made using the Oliver and S Parachute Polo top and the After School pants minus the pockets. I made the top in all knit and the pants are sewn in a back/grey chambray with a charcoal grey top stitching. Both are great go-to patterns for boys. They sure are mine! 

The pants are sewn in three panels on each leg so a perfect way to show off top stitching details. When I first sewn these pants I feel in love with the back pockets, I still love them after three years.  For a girl version the pattern has ruffles that can be added to the pants front pockets and the side seam as well, although they do run on the slim side. That's why they are a perfect fit for my son because he is so thin. 

The polo has a real button placket as well as front pockets. LOVE. I have made my youngest three of these shirts so far and want to make my other sons some as well. I am not sure they will wear it but hey I can try right?!?  

Prince C favorite part is the pocket. Perfect for rocks and feathers. 

Outfit #2 A Field Trip set. (for O+S of coarse) 

The shirt is new, size 3T and the shorts are the ones from his second birthday party, size 18 months. The shorts have held up very, very well. All his clothes really have and he loves to wear mam made.  That's why I love sewing for my little man. :-)

Sewing for my Little Prince C

Autumn is here and my little prince had grown so much over the last summer, from a  size 18 months to a size 3T! So some sewing was in order! 

First up was the Oliver and S Field Trip raglan shirt. Well I really sewn  the three Field trip tee's and the pants over the last week and the weekend before. The Polo was sewn weeks ago but I have not blog about any of them yet. My poor little guy was really very sick for over week. He feels much better now so hopefully I can now get some modeled photos of him in everything too! 

This first shirt was an up-cycle shirt that I bought in the store because I loved the knit. I bought hubby one and bought a second one to make Price C a matching shirt. 

The next two shirts were made using only left over fabric form the three polos I made him. That's right, I made five shirts with 3 yards of fabric! I am very happy with this plus I sewn down a big part of my scrap been with these. This one has a print from the front and the solid for the back. The bird Art gallery knit is some of Prince C's favorite. Well to be honest he loves all the AG knits, he loves to pet the fabric. (I have no idea where he ever got this from. ;-) }

The second one has the Arrows from the front and back and the birds on teh sleeves. Both shirts have been in rotation every since I sewn them. The little guy was even hugging them when I shown him what I had sewn. It really sheered him up. (I have no idea why this photo keeps flipping on me.) 

This is the arrow polo that I had sewn weeks ago, it's from using the Oliver and S Parachute Polo pattern. I think this will be a most sewn pattern in my collection. On my third one it took my only an hour to sew one up not including the buttons. 

I made my little guy some After School pants in a chambray too. I left off the front pockets on these just because I love the look of them with out the pockets for a boy. 

The chambray has a black interweave color in them so I top stitched them in all black thread. I love how this pattern makes it so easy to show off great top stitching. 

I did make the polo in all knit as well. I did try Nicole's advice on the polo and used the woven button placket on the third polo and I love how it does have much less bulk to it. It wears very nice. I did figure a way out of getting rid of the white interfacing when the polo is all finished sewing as well. (I got the idea form Shelley) I will post about that later this week. :-)

Costume Number two, Go, Go Diego Go! for Prince C!

Well it is a very sure thing to say that Price C is growing up waaayyy too fast! This year for Halloween he requested to be Diego from the cartoon. I don't mind him asking to dress up as what he wants be it is the "being able to ask" part that gets me! I knew he would start to grow up I just didn't think it would be this quick. *sigh*

Here are the details of his costume for this year. The hat and vest are both form the Little Things To Sew book. I did change the vest a wee bit and added a metal zipper to look more like Diego's vest. I am very glad I did too; it is way easier for his to use a zipper than buttons. He still doesn't know how to use the buttons. {The only thing saving me when he is trying to take his clothes off! I put his dress shirts on him. ;-) haha} The hat is sideways here but there is a "Diego" logo on both hat and vest.

The pants and shirt are both from Oliver + S Field Trip pattern. He has worn both shirt and pants a ton already. He really loves these pants! The are the size 18-24 months. They are a bit big but they should fit for a while. 

The perfect outfit for my explorer little boy. He is off to have an adventure of his very own.

A good friend of mine said that she blinked and her daughter grew up, I think I must have blinked here too.

Field Trip Tee's by the Threes

It's getting warmer here by the day and my little man is a growing so a few tee shirts were in order. I used a quick and easy favorite Tee shirt patter, the Field Trip tee.

It took my about hour to make all three shirt including the dinosaur appliqué so if you need some shirts in a hurry this is the pattern for you! These are all 12-18 month size for wee size almost two year old. The only change to the pattern is I added a 1/2" to the neck band length so it would fit better over Prince C big head. (small waist, short legs, big head lol)

It feels great to get some of my sewing list done. : )  

I just might finish everything this summer.

Rainy Day Sewing, getting beach ready!

Yesterday it rained and rained here so I figured if we are stuck in the house I might as well go ahead and start on some swim wear for the kids. Yes, I did already sew Sweet pea swim suit but I wanted to give it another go to see it I couldn't make one a little better.

First up is Prince C! I wanted something with a rash guard and bit more stylish than the run of the mill board short shorts so this is what I came up. I used two Oliver + S pattern for his swim wear. The top is a Field trip tee that I painted a star fish on from the Sandbox pattern. I have always wanted to put that little guy on a shirt! I do wish now that I made it in a smaller shirt size though. This top is a 12-18 months size, its prefect for tee's for him but big for a rash guard.  I know in the Sketchbook he wears the 18-24 months size so I thought this would fit the way I wanted it to, I really should have made a trial one first I guess but it will do. At least I have this pattern ready to make him some more summer tee's. I do love the way this pattern fits for regular tee's!

The shorts are a mod from the Sunny Days free pattern. I made the short panels into one piece instead of two and added button holes onto the waist band for a draw string tie. I also sized down to make these as well, 12-18 month size for him. Both the top and the bottoms are made out of denim swim fabric. This stuff is so neat! I talked Garrett into a pair of these swim bottoms as well but Wyatt said no way. (I didn't even bother asking Mr. Cool a.k.a. Jacob) Oh well, Garrett will be styling too.

Here is take two of Sweet pea's. I used the same pattern as the first for Peek-a-boo pattern shop. This pair turned out much better than the first so I think it's safe to say that I am getting the hang of these swim suits! Both were very quick and easy to sew too. Her's is made in the same denim swim fabric and is paired with polka dot fabric.

No wonky back on this one! Yippy!

At first she wasn't so crazy about it but it grew on her when she seen baby brother wearing his. I guess she didn't want to get left out.

I really feel like I am getting my list done for once and it's moving along at a very nice pace. I juts might get all my summer sewing done this year for once!

Field trip Tee, Not Just for My Boys!

 

When the Field Trip pattern came out I snatched it up very quick in both sizes, I had to have it for my all four of my boys. I have seen so many on the Flicker group that I just loved. I never thought about making one for my little princess. That is until last Monday I needed to make a white shirt to go under her costume. Now I have made the Hopscotch top many, many times and do love the pattern but I wanted something very simple and quick so I went with this pattern. I never intended it to be a shirt for everyday wear, until the ribbon came out!  

 

 

You see, I used some scrap fabric for the shirt and you'll never guess but I had to piece together the front to make the fabric big enough to cut out the front pattern piece. Sweet pea wanted ribbon on it any way so I sewn it right over the middle seam to hide it. She loves this shirt, score! I am already planning on making her a pink pair of After School pants and this hoes with it perfect.

 

After the first shirt I decided to make her two more for this fall/winter wardrobe. They are a very quick, easy sew, it was the easiest shirt I have ever made her. The stripped pink sweater knit top is fabric from her stash that we bought last year on clearance from Hobby Lobby.  I doubled the width of the neck binding here for more of a sweater look.  This one is her favorite one all three. The fabric is oh so snuggly soft!

 

This is fabric that I planned for a Sail Boat top but I now glad I saved it for this top. A lovely color for fall.

 

In case you are wondering, the pants are Mia and Ben from last year. So far they still fairly well but I think she will out grow them before the cold weather turns back to warm. Until we shall both enjoy them.
