The Penny Vintage Coat and Dress

I have been quite here on the blog lately, that means I have been working on a ton of surprises! So Here is the new pattern from Elli Inspired that I was able to help test this month, it the Penny Vintage Coat and dress pattern. It is for sale right now in the Bundle Up Sale on pattern Revolution.

I adore this coat! It is perfect for Sweet pea to wear over her dresses (just the right length on the skirt of the coat). This one will be worn over her Easter dress this year. I used a pastel blue stretch twill for the outer coat and matching flannel backed satin for the lining of the coat. I used purple piping that matched the knit dress to line the collar and the right side of the coat. The button are even the same lavender from the knit dress too. I sewn the tie of the coat to slightly stretch the twill so it makes it swirl into a lovely curl when tied.

The knit dress is very lovely too, it has a drop waist with a ruffle neckline and the neck line and sleeves are finished with a knit bias (love this!!) I will be for sure making a few of these dresses for her for summer time too. She even has some knit fabric already picked out. 

The coat can even be interlined for the colder weather but we just lined ours for spring. Lucky for us the winter really has not been here this year so it works out great.

Recognize the hat and mittens?? My hat I crochet last year and missy's mittens form LTTS book. Both have gotten so much use out of them.

Corduroy, Cotton and knit for Fall

Sweet pea and I have more recently found this very inspirational little girl clothing website, Chasing Fireflies. She loves to look at all the pretty outfits online and in the catalogue.  This outfit pictured below is one of the outfits that she really liked and had to have mama make her. Lucky for me Ellie Inspired came out with a pattern so very similar this past month that worked out perfectly!

For her skirt I used the "School Days skirt" pattern with a few mods. The waist band in the pattern calls for one piece to be cut, I changed this to a four pattern piece part. All I did was dived the measurements by two and add seam allowance to only one side. (The side that would have been sewn has it in there still)  I made the waist band pieces 4 1/2" inched log as well to get this look. Next is to cut the front waist band down to size for a flat front. For this juts measure the waist line and dived that by half and add in your seam allowance. Cut two front and two back pieces, two for main and two for lining. The two sections on the main side is to put the big bow that ties at the back of the skirt. I then cut out the next two fabrics out according to the width of the first ruffle on the skirt.  I also added in flat 1" piping between the cotton and corduroy layers as well and finished it off with w yellow bias bow. (thank you so much Shelley for the advice!!)

I made shirt using the "The Sleepy bear pj's" pattern. I made  a size 4 with a size 6 length for her to tuck the shirt in easier. The only mods made to the top pattern was making it long sleeves and making it a rounded neckline, oh and I added a bias to the neck line instead of the ribbing. I did make the sleeves a little long but Sweet pea grows so quick that this will fit her much longer.

The skirt is full for lots of twirling too. See the two bows?! These are her favorite part of the skirt. This is one of those if she puts it on, she starts to dance outfits. haha!

This is my favorite part of her outfit, the shirt! It's made with an embroidery white knit. I had enough left over to make a matching head band. That was so quick and easy to sew too. I most of it on the serger.  

Here is the lovely back bow. I am thinking Sarah needs a pettie skirt to go under her skirt to give it some more "puff". She will need one for her costume this year anyway so why not make it sooner than later. When did her hair get so long too?!?I was going to have it cut this summer but she doesn't want it short so we let it grow some more.

I would say fall sewing is off to a great start! I have pretty much all of Sarah's sewing done, other than three pairs of pants and Jacob's is all done. Yep, I think I am back to sewing full swing now!

Play Ball Raglan t-shirt up cycle!

To add to my sewing with Ellie Inspired week, here is the Play Ball Raglan t-shirt! This wonderful easy pattern comes in sizes 1-16, just like all the other ones I was lucky to test. I made my Jacob a size 14, I still can't believe he wears a size 14 already!? When did he grow so much?? Well for I love this apt tern because of the easiness, quickness and size range. One pattern for all my boys is always a winner!

This shirt was made with a huge shirt that was here at the house. He is starting to become  a Cardinal's fan since moving here and has wanted a t-shirt of his own so this one worked out perfectly. I used some grey knit and ribbing to finish this shirt. I do think it came out very nice and it is the most worn shirt if his......now just to make a few more before school starts!

It has been a wonderful few weeks of sewing, I can't tell you how lucky and blessed I have been able to pattern test for Laura Johnson. I have loved sewing from every pattern and tell you ladies that all al these will be more than well used for each boy. Study Hall Sweater for All!

With the weather already notably cooler here and the new school year is approaching fast I have been very busy sewing up things for all my boys to wear. So today I am sharing another wonderful pattern from Ellie Inspired , the Study Hall Sweater.

This was yet another fabulous pattern I was very lucky to test for Ellie Inspired. It has both sweater and sweater vest including in the pattern. I really love the "V" neckline on this! It's so easy to sew and just as quick to make. It took me longer to cut one out than it did to sew. All the boys equally love this pattern as much as I do as well. All four boys, yes all four, want more of these sweaters! (If you are wondering this blue sweater was made for Jacob but when he turned his back Wyatt swapped it off the hanger and declared it was his so that is also the reason for Jacob's funny look on his face and the "haha" look on Wyatt's face. brothers! ) 

The next best thing about this pattern is that even the sweater fits very nicely over the Charlie's Camp Shirt for layering in the colder months ahead. I think Jacob looks so very smart here, don't you? : )

I even sewn one up for the baby too! He loves it as much as his brother. Sadly the boys wore them already outside this summer due to chilly days we have already had here. I hope this doesn't mean another cold winter. Yipes!

This one is over Caspian's Sketchbook onesie and shorts....the 6-12 months shorts. Yep they still fit this small fellow.

It's another quick favorite pattern and most surely be a "Go-To" pattern for all my boys!

Field Trip Tee's by the Threes

It's getting warmer here by the day and my little man is a growing so a few tee shirts were in order. I used a quick and easy favorite Tee shirt patter, the Field Trip tee.

It took my about hour to make all three shirt including the dinosaur appliqué so if you need some shirts in a hurry this is the pattern for you! These are all 12-18 month size for wee size almost two year old. The only change to the pattern is I added a 1/2" to the neck band length so it would fit better over Prince C big head. (small waist, short legs, big head lol)

It feels great to get some of my sewing list done. : )  

I just might finish everything this summer.
