Team Spirit Oliver + S Style!

Our summer is almost over here. :( The boys go back to school this next week. I am going to miss the little guys. So to start the first day of school off right I am making all the boys an outfit. Mr. W chose some of his favorite football team's fabric for a pair of sandbox shorts and a matching bucket from the LTTS book. I made his from the sew along form a Little Gray.

Jessica has a great tip here for putting together these hats quicker and easier than the pattern! It makes both sides of the hat top stitching look great.
I also added a small square applique to the white side of the hat for fun!

I used the sandbox shorts pattern for his bottoms. I do need to add the elastic waist band still and the buttons to the back pockets but he still loves them. I not sure if you can tell but there are front pockets too.

Well onto one more pair of shorts and one more bucket hat before we say so long to summer here and hello school days!

It's the same dress!

I seen this pinned on Pinterest the other day, the dress is from Zulily. As soon as I seen it I could tell you it looks like the Carolina dress I made!
It would easy to make from the Carolina dress pattern. All I have to do is add ruffles around the top bodice and add an extra underskirt with simple border at the bottom. And the colors of this dress works so well together.  I think I will have to try it out!

Amazing how similar dresses can be huh?

Yay! She likes it!

Remember this tutu from here that Sweet pea didn't like....
Well after some crying again she decided it's not so bad! She has wore it a bit now and it is growing on her but she doesn't like it when I put it on her. I not sure why that is. Toddlers can be so funny at times!

It's perfect for twirling in the summer breeze too!

1st Day Of School Outfit!

It's hard to believe that this little boy is now 5 years old and is ready to start school! He's ready but mama is not. I don't know where the time went. I turned around and he wasn't a baby any more. So for this big life step he needs a special outfit! I made him a Cliffard sandbox shorts with a matching shirt. (you know it had to be Oliver + S!)
The shorts sewn together very quickly! I did forget to sew the back buttons on though. oops! I plan on making him two more outfits for school and the other two older boys picked out some fabric as well for them. I will try my hardest to finish them all up this week seeing school starts September 6th!
The shirt was the easiest! I appliqued some fabric on a shirt useing a blanket stitch around the edge. It took me a whole 5 minutes. He loves the whole outfit! So well worth the time!

Little Things to Sew

To start this post off sorry for MIA this past weekend/week. My hubby turned the big 40!! Happy Birthday my sweet man!! That and I have gallstones so besides hurting bad I have been sick as well. (yippee me) I have been laying around the house for the most part. I do go and see the surgeon this next Monday so hopefully I hear some good news.
Now onto my favorite...sewing!! I made this adorable tutu for Sweet pea today from the book Little Things To sew. It was very quick and easy project and the even better part didn't cost much either!
Now the sad part, Lambie is wearing the tutu because Sweet pea does not like it. The poor thing cried when I put it on her and she took it off. It did look so beautiful on her too. (Sweet pea not the lamb ;) although lambie has never looked better hehe) Sweet pea was looking at the tutu and playing with it before bed tonight so maybe I get force try it on her tomorrow.

Happy Sewing until next time!!

The School Girl Jumper

This week over at Simple Simon & Company she had a sew along for this so cute school girl jumper. Isn't cute!?! It was so easy and quick to make too!
It looks great paired with Sweet pea's Oliver + s music class blouse I made her too. The funny thing was I was sewing the jumper and my oldest son walked in and said "oh green dots". I thought they where brown until he said this and looking closer the dots were green, lol. But it was fine because I realized that the dots are the same color as her blouse! Small world. :)
This is where she was done having her pictures taken, lol. She even gave me a funny look.....
And then turned and left! But I do love the look of the back of the jumper too. I used fabric covered buttons.

Check out Simple Simon & Company blog, there is so many wonderful tutorials from a very talented woman!

A Great Find

I have been absent on the sewing this week on my blog but I have been working on something. ( I have been a bit lazy though, lol) I have wanted the Oliver + S Puppet Show pattern for a while but it is so hard to find. After I thought I wasn't going to own it a wonderful gal over on the other coast found it at a local store and mailed it to me! YAY!! That's what I love about people who sew, they are incredibly nice! (and I am not just saying that because I sew ;) )
I made Sweet pea two tops and two shorts and one dress. The other great part is that I used only fabric from my stash! The top/dress buttons all the way down the back and there is a button on the bottom of the sleeve too. Too cute!

If you look closly at this Raddy Ann & Andy one the strips say "Raddy Ann & Andy" on it. Thanks Mom for the fabric!!
The shorts have gathered paockets it and cuffed bottoms with gathers at the sides. They sew very quickly too.

And yes a dress too. This pattern makes a great dress for church. Very sweet and classic pattern.

Have a great weekend!!

My Sewing Room

I thought this morning I would share with you ladies my sewing room/laundry room. It's not a very big space but it does work well for sewing and it's my own space! (after four kids having a space of my own is very nice ;) ) This is the view from the hall way looking in.
My sewing table with a few cut out Puppet Show Tunic patterns waiting for me. I have now just about finished the two tops and the dress though. Can't wait to finish them!! I used a old double curtian rod to place the fabric I am going to use in the near future on. The shelf was made out of an old box frame matteress that broke. Before we through it out hubby snagged some good wood on it. (thank you wonderful hubby of mine! He is very thriffty) It had my favorite patterns of all time on them. :) I have almost made every pattern that I own now.
My fabric shelf with about the other half of fabric I own, the rest of the fabric is in a big box in my room. My quilting cutter and supplies hangs on the wall out of little fingures reach and hubby found the great organzier for all my notions too. (ignore the holes in the wall! I tried to hang something on the wall with no luck)
I am a bit of a messy person when I am sewing!
To make more room in my tiny space my hubby rigged my ironing board ontop of the washer and dryer for me. All he did was cut short "legs" out of a 2x4 and screwd them into board with washers. I love my ironing board, It was my great grandmother's. I think of her every time I use it. :) ALl I have to do is make a new cover for it but I cna't find any fabric I like well enough. RIght now I use a quilt on it.
I do have a window too! It is a nice sunny space during the day. I need the sun, it makes me happy.
I hope you enjoyed this little tour of my sewing space.
