Camp Out Birthday Party!

Caspian had the best party ever this year! Well, almost the best. Most our family was here to celebrate the day with us.

Here is the dessert table. I made both banners out of a Riley Blake panel. The name of it slips my mind now, but it did work out perfectly I think. I used a fabric to make both table clothes , fabric courtesy of my grandma, (thanks grandma!) She always sends me the best fabrics. : )  I did try to keep everything simple since it was an out doors party too.

We had a trail mix bar and we roasted hot dogs on a open fire. Yummy! It's one of our kids favorite things to eat.

I made "camp fire" cup cakes. I used honey pretzels for the "wood" under the fire frosting. These were super easy to make.  I seen the idea on Pintrest somewhere but I can't tell you where, sorry.

A forest of sugar cookies anyone? There are a few leaning trees due to a two year old boy trying to sneak a few.....not that Caspian could tell you who. ; )

And of course I did make s'more cookies too. These were super easy to make too. I just followed the recipe for chocolate chip cookies but added a half a bag of the chocolate chips, a 1/2 cup of the Jet-Puffed Mallowbits and about 4 crumbled lightly gram crackers. This was the biggest hit with my kids.

Lastly for the decorations is the canvas table runners I made I use left over fabric from the Puppet Theater I made at Christmas time to make both of them. I cut them then added a decorative stitch that my sewing machine does, an oak leaf, and just did a narrow hem to finish them.  Super simple again just time consuming. I never thought I was going to finish sewing those leaves on! I used mason jars with rocks in the bottom with water to make candle holders for the floating candles as well. These are very pretty in the dark, sadly I forgot to light any of them. Oh well, we can still use them on another night.

Now the wee ones favorite part of the day! Grandpa/great-grandpa was  giving out "tractor" rides. Caspian and his small cousin couldn't get enough of these!
My brother was glad to help out with riding in the back with the small ones. (there was four generations here for the party too, my dad, my brother, his son my nephew and his two boys. I wish I had thought of taking their picture altogether!)

Caspian and his cousin were fast friends too. They both are around the same age and got along very well. It was so cute to see them playing together.

Are they not just the cutest?!?

All in all it was a very good day for the most part. My husband had to work last minute. Which was really a bummer seeing it was also our 12th wedding anniversary too. The other was that my nephew's oldest son was hurt and broke his leg, yah that was beyond super sticky as the kids would say. We are praying for a quick recovery for him.

We did have a wonderful visit with family and I think everyone had a good time. I hope we can do it again!

Happy Birthday my son!!

Some Small Christmas projects!

A very quick post on some smaller things I have made for Christmas. This little fellow was made on Friday, the last day the kids were in school before the holiday break. He's for Prince C. Prince C has taking a liking to Sweet pea's baby from Aunt Fran so I am hoping this gets him to leave her alone. (Lots of fighting of Sweet pea's dolly!)

He is a baby sock monkey too! I made him a cloth nappy, the very same as I used with Sweet pea Ella doll. Both were quick easy. the sock monkey was lots of hand stitching though.

I even made a place his tale to go through. All I did was make a big buttonhole on the nappy.

I also made Prince C a nice bib for Little things To Sew book. I bought this book with Sweet pea in mind to make her a bunch of these but it never did happen. At least I did get around to get use out of this pattern for the next baby! It's a great pattern, easy a fairly quick. I am getting much better at making bias I think. ; )

Later in the week I plan on making a few more of these. They will be very useful with my messy little man! He even likes to wear this.

lastly, Sweet pea and I made this Christmas tree cake yesterday together. It was so much fun baking her. Nothing says the Happy Holidays like baking! I think it came out very well. I wasn't ready to cut but she and the boys sure were! It's almost gone now. *sniff, sniff*

We have made over 5 dozen cookies and still counting, I still have some sewing that must be done before Christmas too. I hope to have it all done, wish my luck!

Merry Christmas!

Yummy Buttermilk Beignets

My kids have always wanted to try Beignets ever since They have seen the Disney movie The frog Princess. One late night when Prince C wouldn't go back to sleep I came across this recipe over at Chocolate, Chocolate and More for the Buttermilk Beignets and had to try it out.

As you can see they were a big hit with the kids! I have made these a few times already by their request.

Lucky for me they are easy peasy to make. The hardest part is waiting for them to cool off to eat and for the kids this is torture. ; )

The dough is a bit sticky, well very sticky. As long as I used flour and cut them as I went it wasn't a problem. Plus I had a great helper.

Can you tell she worked hard?

Poor little guy couldn't have one but I though I would share this picture.
I think I will make these for Saturday breakfast for kids....and for me too. : )

D is for donut

We have been so busy this week at our house! We have been working on the yard, I have been sewing and the kids have been having a blast on their new swing set. One really fun activity we did this week was make alphabet donuts.

I just used my favorite cake donut recipe  an cut the letters out with the alphabet cookie cutters.

Fry them up fro a taste treat, because the cookie cutters were on the small side it made a TON of donuts for the kids!!

Just add your favorite topping and enjoy!

The kids thought these were just the coolest!

Have a great weekend!!

Lots of Little Bunnies!

We are getting ready for Easter here at our. The boys will be out of school next week for spring break, YAHH!! So lots of family fun and craft projects to come!
To start our week of fun I made Sweet pea this bunny shirt. I seen the tutorial over at Girl. Inspired. She also sells these cute shirts if you don't want to make them, but they are super easy and quick to make. I am wanting to make one or two more of these up!!

How cute is it?!?

And for the boys a sweet treat! I made them sugar cookies for a after school surprise. I love to make and decorate cookies!

My egg cookies didn't turn out as nice as the bunnies but I am sure they taste just as good. I put a monogram style letter in the egg cookies, one for each child. They love it when I make stuff just for them!

Have a great Week End!!

Homemade Oreos and Teddy Bears

Last week over at Craftiness is not optional she posted this recipe on homemade peppermint oreos. They are soo yummy and easy to make! Click over HERE for the recipe.
Here are our cookies, they didn't last very long though! We will be making more of these for Santa (if they last that long). Even Sweet pea loved them, she would say yum yum and point to who ever had a cookie in their hand.

My Aunt Fran sent these wonderful teddy bears to my sons this past week, Sweet pea got a lovely homemade dolly too. Sweet pea just loves them! She played with them for a long time on the cough.
The teddy bears tasted yummy too! She is still trying to them for the boys, lol.
Have a great weekend!
