Sewing for my Little Prince C

Autumn is here and my little prince had grown so much over the last summer, from a  size 18 months to a size 3T! So some sewing was in order! 

First up was the Oliver and S Field Trip raglan shirt. Well I really sewn  the three Field trip tee's and the pants over the last week and the weekend before. The Polo was sewn weeks ago but I have not blog about any of them yet. My poor little guy was really very sick for over week. He feels much better now so hopefully I can now get some modeled photos of him in everything too! 

This first shirt was an up-cycle shirt that I bought in the store because I loved the knit. I bought hubby one and bought a second one to make Price C a matching shirt. 

The next two shirts were made using only left over fabric form the three polos I made him. That's right, I made five shirts with 3 yards of fabric! I am very happy with this plus I sewn down a big part of my scrap been with these. This one has a print from the front and the solid for the back. The bird Art gallery knit is some of Prince C's favorite. Well to be honest he loves all the AG knits, he loves to pet the fabric. (I have no idea where he ever got this from. ;-) }

The second one has the Arrows from the front and back and the birds on teh sleeves. Both shirts have been in rotation every since I sewn them. The little guy was even hugging them when I shown him what I had sewn. It really sheered him up. (I have no idea why this photo keeps flipping on me.) 

This is the arrow polo that I had sewn weeks ago, it's from using the Oliver and S Parachute Polo pattern. I think this will be a most sewn pattern in my collection. On my third one it took my only an hour to sew one up not including the buttons. 

I made my little guy some After School pants in a chambray too. I left off the front pockets on these just because I love the look of them with out the pockets for a boy. 

The chambray has a black interweave color in them so I top stitched them in all black thread. I love how this pattern makes it so easy to show off great top stitching. 

I did make the polo in all knit as well. I did try Nicole's advice on the polo and used the woven button placket on the third polo and I love how it does have much less bulk to it. It wears very nice. I did figure a way out of getting rid of the white interfacing when the polo is all finished sewing as well. (I got the idea form Shelley) I will post about that later this week. :-)

Sewing but not Blogging

 

I have really been sewing but honesty I have not sat down and try to write any post on them. I am way behind in what I want to have done so at this point I am setting just for what can be done. I have a quilt top almost done and ready for Sweet pea's birthday next month, (I need to start me G's too!) I did manage to finish up almost all of the Waldorf doll sewing with a great post to come on that! I have almost finished a pair of Tea party pants suit in brown suiting for my Prince C. I do love this and can't wait to finish.....and the list goes on and on.

 

So now onto the pants! They are Afterschool pants for Sweet pea as she really needed some new winter pants. She has really worn out all but one pair form last year out. She is as tough as the boys on pants. The top pair was request by her. How I do loves these, she wanted to match grandpa so she could go hunting with him. I added ruffles so they would like girly.

On the back pockets I top stitched oak leaves. I not sure if this helps but she loves it. They are very sturdy pants too, perfect to play in the snow today.

 



 

She also needs a dressy pair so I made these pale pink stretch twill with lace. I am a lace kick this past week so I had to add it. (Wait till you see her Christmas doll!)

I did make the hem longer on both of these pants so they would fit longer, Sweet pea seems to grow about 3" in six month time.

 

The fit is pretty good but I am afraid that this means I have to order the next size up in the pattern soon. We shall enjoy these while we can. : )

Fall Weather Means Planning Fall Sewing

It is that time of year again! I have been planning the kids fall wardrobe but before anything is traced and cut out they must be measured. My little guy has grown taller and has put on my weight but with the walking/running came a slim down in his waist and hips. (This is not a surprise to me seeing all my other kiddos did the very same thing.) A very happy surprise is that a bunch of his cloths from last year still fit him! Yep, even his favorite shirt! I think he still loves it as much as before and how could he not, it has great colors on it and the fabric is oh so soft. It's a favorite of mine too. 

 

 

The top is his Sailboat from Oliver + S. The sleeves are still a bit long so now I wondering if maybe I cut them too long. Before any new tops will be cut out I will have to double check this. I added the Velcro to the shirt because of button hole issues I was having but after this I am so glad I did, easy on and off! It is one of those happy mistakes. : ) I plan to keep this shirt this way for the next two as well.

 

The pants are the After School pants pattern from Oliver + S from last winter. I left the pockets off after seeing a Flicker friend little boy's made this way and just loved them. (I love everything that she sews!!) The pants being in the smaller range they look better without the front pockets I think. These are 12-18 month size but shortened. I find this pattern that the pants are slimmer fitting. This pair does sag a bit in the back so I am wondering if his brown 6-12month pair would fit him again, hhmm I will have to check. I used wales cord and love it still. They held up very well and look as though they should fit all fall and winter long.

 

The best part of these pants are the wee little pockets! They just kill me! (see the sagging in these very small pants ; ) )

 

I love when clothes from last year fit from one season to the next. I am hoping some of Sweet pea's will too.
