Fairy tale Christmas dress for Sweet pea and her doll!

Last month I made Sweet pea a purple Art Gallery Fairy Tale dress for the holiday season, it's perfect for Christmas and New Years alike. It turned out to be a favorite dress of hers. So for Christmas her doll Isabelle had to have one as well to match Sweet pea's. 

 Since Oliver and S does not have doll pattern for all their patterns yet (*Hint, hint Liesl!!)I had to draft my own. I did leave the darts off this dress but on the next one I will add them to it. This dress is sewn very much like the big version, fully lined with a full crinoline underneath and finished with a big sash bow tied on back. 

The plan was for this dress to be a Christmas morning present but Sweet pea found it before hand any way so it is now on Isabelle for the Christmas week.  She does have to change into her pj's at night though. ;-) 

Here is the skirt's details. Sweet pea wanted it to be just like hers. This dress was also sewn with just the scraps from Sweet pea's dress. I think on my next Oliver and S pattern I will do the very same again! I think this will be some fun projects for the New Year for both my daughter and I. 

Well these two all set for Christmas Eve! I still have 5 sewing days left and so much more to blog about!

Sleepy Bear Pj's for all the kids and a Sew-Along!!

So if you know me or have followed me blog for a few years you know how much my kids love winter pj's made by their mama. My kiddos have outgrown all their sets from a few years ago so it's time to remake them. Yep some of my favorite fun sewing, pj party at my house!! 

**Warning lots of photos to follow, I made 6 sets this round**

 For all the Pj's I used the Ellie Inspired Sleepy Bear pj pattern, including the dolls' pj. All the tops are made with Riley Blake knits and the pants are made using Riley Blake Flannel. The flannel is by far my very favorite to work with of all the brands. 

I love this pattern for how easy and quick it is! It took me 1 and 1/2 days to sew all these sets up. Yep it's that quick! The pattern does call for a short sleeve but I made a mod for the long sleeve. That was super easy to make as well. 

My kids love how roomy the pants and top fit. Perfect for curling up with a good book on a cold winters night. They are so cozy that I am thinking of making me set like this, if only it came in my size....

Of course miss Elsa and Isabelle had to match their mommy! The awesome part of the doll pattern is that both sets were made for Sarah's left over fabrics only. How awesome is that?! One reason I love tiny sewing! 

For the doll pattern I used the robe sleeve pattern for the pj top instead of the short sleeve pj t-shirt pattern piece. I did use lettuce edging on the bottom of both Sarah's and doll's pj top as well. They had to be girly as requested by miss Sweet pea. 

Now onto the sew along fun!! Starting on December 14th I will be leading the Sew along for this pattern over at Whimsical Fabrics! We will only be sewing the top and pants this time. (You can sew a robe up as well) I will even be teaching how to make a modification on a pattern to make a short sleeve into a long sleeve. If you have done this before it really is fairy easy. 

As always Danielle has put together some awesome kits for you.  If you have not bought one from her yet this would be a great starting project, she includes everything needed but the thread, including the elastic for the waist band. She has so many wonderful options with this one! Christmas and non-Christmas ones. You can find all the kits options in the Whimsical Fabrics Shop. 

Now I am sure you have noticed how much my little man has grown. Last year this time I was sewing him a size one, the pants were a bit big on him them. Well this year I had to cut a size 3.... When did he grow so much?!? Yipes! This mama is a bit sad over this one. The two older boys are still a 10 and Sweet pea still is a size 5, only taller. My oldest though has gone from a size 14 boys to men's sizing. He is taller than me now. It is so amazing how much growing a child can do in just a few short months.

I do love how this pattern does fit all my kiddos with only one pattern. It starts in a size one and goes all the way to a size 16.  The pattern does also include a robe pattern but I didn't sew one up this time. 

As you can see these made my bunch very happy!

A Little Bit Of Christmas For Prince C to Match His Big Sister

It is Prince C's turn for some Christmas sewing! After sewing his sister Sweet pea's dress he requested a Nutcracker vest to match her dress. Lucky for me he is so tiny still I was able to squeak out a vest just for him! I only had to add fabric firm my stash for the front lining of the vest. The fabric is just the right color to match lucky us! It was also so wonderful to find out that I can make vests with only scrap fabrics, Prince C was so thrilled that he went "shopping" through my scrap bin. 

See the happy dancing boy?!? Yep he was that happy over this outfit! 

I used Oliver and S Art Museum vest and pant pattern and he is wearing his shirt from Easter that I made him. The pants are made in a Fabric Finders Rust color corduroy. This pattern never disappoints either. 

The pants have slanted front pockets with welt pockets on the back and on the vest. I made some fun welt pockets for his vest. Christmas vest should be fun right?! 

He is already looking for Santa too. When you are three it seams to take a very long time for him to come. 

I think it is so sweet that these two love to match still, I hope they do not out grow it for while. They are really best friends as best friends can be. Every mother's dream come true. 

Yep, they are plotting together some mischief. ;-) 

For Prince C's second top choice for Christmas fun is a white tree knit Field Trip T-shirt. I did double the width of the neck band to give it more of a turtle neck feel and too keep my little guy warm. 

The above photo was the only smiling photo I got this time, he was busy playing the "Wheels on the bus". He still looks pretty cute though. So round one is done and on to round two of Christmas sewing!! 

**a Note to readers, I did offer to make the older boys the very same outfit but they declined. I don't know why? ha-ha!!**

A Fairy Tale Christmas and A Sew A-Long

Christmas sewing has started in my house these past few weeks, first up was miss Sweet pea's turn. I sewn her two Oliver and S Fairy Tale dresses this year for the Holiday season, one dressy and one fun. 

The more dressy one was made in non traditional colors using the Art Gallery Wonderland line. Well these are the colors Sweet pea loves at the Christmas so to her is says Christmas all the way! 

I love this dress pattern for so many reasons. The darts on the bodice makes it look just right for parties and I love all the options this pattern has, each one gives a dress a totally different look to it.  The possibilities seem endless.  

The Art gallery dress is made in View B. I love how it has the hand stitching on the sleeves and skirt to give it a lovely finish. The darts give this dress a more tailored look.  

The skirt on this dress has such a beautiful full look because not only does this dress have a fully lined inside with skirt lining but also has a full Crinoline between the skirts as well. My daughter thinks that this is the perfect party dress for dancing.  

Now our fun version of the fairy Tale! This one is made with Sweet pea's favorite Nutcracker fabric. It is not Christmas with out the Nutcracker ballet so when she seen this fabric she wanted a dress made in it. 

I made View A on this dress. It has beautiful tulip cap sleeves and a hand sewn belt with a tiny bow sewn onto the front side. 

This was one dress I couldn't get her to sit still in for photos so it is a fun dress that she wanted! ha-ha! Prince C wanted a vest made with this fabric as well so stayed tuned for tomorrow for a brother sister matching outfits!

A Little Bit Of Christmas

This year I have stared on some fun sewing for Christmas already. I don't want to fall behind on my list. This year I want to make my two youngest some fun Holiday clothes that will work for the whole season. Sweet pea's is up first. (Mostly because I have not decided on boy fabric yet) 

Well right now if you follow me on the Whimsical Fabrics Facebook group you know that I am smitten with Children's Corner Frannie dress pattern. I love the the instructions and constriction of this dress, the way it fits and the drape the dress has. All around it is a lovely pattern! This is my second one to date and I can promise that there will be at least one more this year. (I already ordered the supplies for the third one.)  

The fabric is from Riley Blake and is no longer in print. I had been eyeing the fabric for some time and bought it when it went on sale here a few weeks ago, it worked out so nicely for dressy version of the Frannie. I sued the blue and pink color way for her Crochet night gown this past summer. I love this fabric line. 

I trimmed this dress in lace and stain ribbon. The hem line has a lace that reminds me of gingerbread houses, I not sure why but I love it. 

The dress is topped with a lace collar and the satin ribbons for the ties to finish the dress. I think this will make a lovely dress for a Christmas party or even a New Years Eve party. This dress also layers very well too so she can wear a lovely long sleeve Mattie under it this winter or even a lovely cardi over top.  It's a great all season pattern.
