The Penny Vintage Coat and Dress

I have been quite here on the blog lately, that means I have been working on a ton of surprises! So Here is the new pattern from Elli Inspired that I was able to help test this month, it the Penny Vintage Coat and dress pattern. It is for sale right now in the Bundle Up Sale on pattern Revolution.

I adore this coat! It is perfect for Sweet pea to wear over her dresses (just the right length on the skirt of the coat). This one will be worn over her Easter dress this year. I used a pastel blue stretch twill for the outer coat and matching flannel backed satin for the lining of the coat. I used purple piping that matched the knit dress to line the collar and the right side of the coat. The button are even the same lavender from the knit dress too. I sewn the tie of the coat to slightly stretch the twill so it makes it swirl into a lovely curl when tied.

The knit dress is very lovely too, it has a drop waist with a ruffle neckline and the neck line and sleeves are finished with a knit bias (love this!!) I will be for sure making a few of these dresses for her for summer time too. She even has some knit fabric already picked out.

The coat can even be interlined for the colder weather but we just lined ours for spring. Lucky for us the winter really has not been here this year so it works out great.

Recognize the hat and mittens?? My hat I crochet last year and missy's mittens form LTTS book. Both have gotten so much use out of them.

If you would like the pattern it is on sale right now in the girls Bundle up patterns.

Happy Sewing!!

Christmas Eve Night Gowns, Sweet pea and dolly matching ones

SO I am waaayyy behind in blogging about any sewing at all. I promise you that there has been sewing, lots and lots of sewing but no blogging. So this month as the kiddos go back to school I will try and play catch-up with all the lovelies I have made. First up Sweet pea's Christmas Eve night gown for her and her new American Girl doll!

I used the pattern All Tucked in from Ellie Inspired for both Sweet pea's and the doll's night gowns. I used a light weight red cotton fabric for both (sorry but I forget exactly which type of cotton it is) and trimmed each in lace and ribbons. The big girl's pattern was wonderful in showing how to make each growth tuck perfect in size and evenly spaced. It left me standing back admiring my work! The pattern does also have the pattern piece and instructions for using a pin tuck foot on the bodice but you know me I had to add the traditional pin tucks to the bodice. I did this buy cutting out a rectangle piece of fabric and marked my lines, sewn the pin tucks and then cut out my bodices for both the doll and the big girls.

The other part of this pattern I love is the lace that runs down the center of the bodice. It reminds me very much of Ana Sofia's style on her dresses. ( I just adore her sewing style so very much!)The skirt is trimmed in lace and so are the elastic casing on each sleeve for both Sweet pea's and the dolls. Both were a labor of love. Sweet pea's loves this style of night gown very much seeing she always tries to wear her dresses to bed al of the time. She told me that this is her princess night gown. I plan on making one for each season for her including the sleeveless version for the summer time. Did I mention that the pattern comes with both the girls pattern and the doll pattern as well??!

This is one of the many things I have to share! Come back tomorrow and I will share Prince C's Christmas Eve pj's you with too!
