Wee Wander Picnic Blouse and Shorts

I am back with more adventures in back to school sewing!! Today I am sharing a Class Picnic set from Oliver and S that I sewn the other day. It's from Sarah Jane's Wee Wander line paired with twill shorts.I think the line is perfect for back to school as she wanders to new places and learns new things!

I made her a size 8, which is than what she wears, I am hoping for two years out of her outfits as previous years. Fingers crossed! I was able to cut the top out of one yard of fabric which happened with a careful pattern layout with no left over fabric. I made my daughter three of these so far but I can promise there will be more. The shorts was cut from a yard of Fabric Finders Twill. Even more amazing was I cut a pair of size 4 Sketchbook shorts from the very same one yard of twill! yes two pairs of shorts with one yard of fabric!! It took some fancy laying out but I made it work.

I added lace trim the the front yoke. A friend gave me the tip of adding so her child and husband could tell the front from the back, clever idea. I did forget to add this to the first I sewn up. (More to come on that later this week!) I had mom brain going that day. Well, my husband and I were cleaning out the basement getting ready to finish up whole basement in a remodel. Which means an even better sewing studio! You know I am excited for that!

My little Wee Wander is ready for her next big adventure, Second Grade!!

Happy Sewing!!

Oliver + S PIcnic Blouse and Shorts

With Sarah growing like a weed she needed some more summer outfits that are not dresses, as per her request. So next on the list was another pair of the Picnic shorts and one top more. She has a lovely top already from the amazing Ana Sofia that she adores wearing so I though she would love one more top to wear with this pair of shorts. (Seriously, she wears the top for her at least three times a week!)

This top is made in a light weight pink gingham trimmed in some very special lace from the Anan Sofia herself. I have saved this trim for just a top like this one. I have had this pattern for nearly two years until Sarah grew big enough to fit into it (I bought it on sale for a very good price), well it's still a tad big but looks good now and should fit great next summer too.

The shorts are a navy blue twill. Something sturdy for playing in. She does shorts but she still hasn't gotten used to them completely. She keeps pulling the front of her shorts up, I not really sure why though. I am assuming that it's the way they sit against her leg and she not used to that feeling from wearing all her skirts and dresses.

As always Liesl does not disappoint! The shorts and top are such a lovely sew! Both are quick to sew and are both so beautifully finished on the inside as well as the outside. Clever, clever! I can see this pattern becoming a go-to one.

I just love it on my girl. : )

She loves it too. She had to wear this to bed to sleep in and the next day as well. As soon as it is washed she told me she wants it back again.  Which makes me think that this top would make a great night top paired with the Sunny Days shorts.

Summer sewing is really so much fun! I love trying new patterns. If you are wanting this pattern as well right now over at Oliver + S they are on sale 50% off!! But only until the 20th of this month.

Happy sewing!!

Sewing but not Blogging

I have really been sewing but honesty I have not sat down and try to write any post on them. I am way behind in what I want to have done so at this point I am setting just for what can be done. I have a quilt top almost done and ready for Sweet pea's birthday next month, (I need to start me G's too!) I did manage to finish up almost all of the Waldorf doll sewing with a great post to come on that! I have almost finished a pair of Tea party pants suit in brown suiting for my Prince C. I do love this and can't wait to finish.....and the list goes on and on.

So now onto the pants! They are Afterschool pants for Sweet pea as she really needed some new winter pants. She has really worn out all but one pair form last year out. She is as tough as the boys on pants. The top pair was request by her. How I do loves these, she wanted to match grandpa so she could go hunting with him. I added ruffles so they would like girly.

On the back pockets I top stitched oak leaves. I not sure if this helps but she loves it. They are very sturdy pants too, perfect to play in the snow today.

She also needs a dressy pair so I made these pale pink stretch twill with lace. I am a lace kick this past week so I had to add it. (Wait till you see her Christmas doll!)

I did make the hem longer on both of these pants so they would fit longer, Sweet pea seems to grow about 3" in six month time.

The fit is pretty good but I am afraid that this means I have to order the next size up in the pattern soon. We shall enjoy these while we can. : )

Happy Sewing!
