Sweet Pea's Halloween Costume is......

Raggedy Ann!

She looks right at home in all of these Raggedy Ann dolls, all  are here but one of her Raggedy Ann dolls. (it's her favorite one and is only 12" tall but the problem is she never puts it back up, toddlers). Oh and plus here "baby" too. It was so easy to pick out her costume to make this year too! You see all these cute dolls where made by my mom. The one to the left my sister and I used to play with as little girls, oh how we loved that doll! So in honor of my great mom, a living doll! (don't you just find her cute mom?!?)

Sweet pea wasn't in the mood for pictures but I was able to get a few. The dress is the Family Reunion dress pattern for O+S. I added ruffles to the neck line and made it long sleeves with ruffles at the end for a reusable dress all winter long. The apron is my own pattern from a memory of watching  my mom make tons of these dolls growing up. (a tutorial to come!) I think she is still sewing these things in her sleep! And the bloomers are a simple pattern I just made much longer. Easy peasy!

My favorite part of this dress has to be the big bow on the back of her apron. I cut it wide and rolled Serge the raw edges to keep light a flowing! The apron sewn up very quickly too, about 40 minutes in all.

Boy, she loves too! I had to Chase her down twice today just to take her outfit off. She was telling "don't, don't" lol. If she's happy so am I. :)

I couldn't have a post on Raggedy Ann & Andy with out her reading her Raggedy Ann & Andy book. I love the way this dress looks on her by it's self too. I am thinking a 2nd birthday party too???

All in all it brings back wonderful memories!

A Bias Tape Sun Dress

I love the look of bias tape around the top of a dress! That's how I made this dress for Sweet pea. It is simple but still cute with the little ruffle around the bottom, just enough to make it girly.  (I love anything with ruffles!!) The bias tape runs around the top and ties at the shoulders in bow. This is also one of my favorite prints of fabric too. I found it over at Hobby Lobby last month. I also used the same fabric for her bustle dress too.

The back of the dress is the same as the front. It should be pretty comfortable when it gets hot outside.

Big brother was helping her walk, don't they look so sweet together?

An Easter Manhattan Dress! & a little walking too!!

I have been wanting the sewing book Sewing Clothes Kids Love for some time. I have seen lots of other blogs swing beautiful outfits form this book. It has boys and girl clothes in it. This is the first outfit I have sewn from this book, the Manhattan dress. I will say it has a ton of pieces to cut out but came out beautifully! I am going to use this dress as Sweet pea's Easter instead of her ruffle dress. My hubby really likes this dress even better! (I used the Nicey Jane fabric for this dress, I really love this fabric!!)

Warning! Lots of photos of a silly toddler! She was in a very playful mood while I was trying to take her picture.

The back of the dress laces up for a very nice fitted look. I really love the back of this dress, it reminds me of a princess dress. I used a sheer ribbon for the ties and a gross grain for the loops. The back of this dress is longer than the front and the skirt is flowy (is that a word??).

I had to put this picture in here, it is out of focus but what a very sweet face!

The front of the bodice looks to be a curved shape so I placed piping anlong the curve to make it stand out more. Another part of this dress I really love!

Sweet pea is walking here! She can only take a few steps at time still but she is really trying hard. :) She will be 15 months soon but I think with four kids her being a bit behind might not be a bad thing. ;)

We are very pround of her, she has come a long way since she started therapy! Soon she will be running all over the house.

A Flower Dress

I made Sweet pea this adorable dress last night. I seen the tutorial for it over at Sewing in No Mans Land a couple of days ago and just fell in love with it! Her has a gathering stitch and buttons across the top of hers but I made mine with the elastic around the neck line.

Her tutorial was very easy to follow and the dress went together in 1 hour, it would have been less but I made the hem too long and had to take it up about 2". I really do love this dress pattern.  

I used a light weight fabric, very nice for hot weather. And best of all this dress is very confortable too! She has been wearing it all day. :) I am going to make one or two more of these dresses up!

Butterflies and Polka Dots!

I made Sweet pea her first pillow case dress, I am in love with the colors of this one! It is bright and cheerful, all of her favorite colors. And she is standing on her own here!!! We are getting closer to walking but not quite there yet.

I made the pattern myself, I rarely use bought patterns. I got the idea from this dress from a pamplet at Hoby Lobby. I thought it wouldn't be hard to make this dress without a pattern. It is pretty simple. I made the ties at the top of her dress to match a border at the bottom of the dress. There are two different fabrics bordring the very bottom and two pockets on this dress. Perfect for spring and summer!

Here she is with one of her older brothers, I think they look so sweet in this picture! :) He is helping her stand, that and so she won't crawl off, lol.

the pockets are two differnt colors with the same fabric at the top of the pocket as the top ties.

Our label at the bottom, still loven them. It the little things that make me happy. :) I know I am very dorky.

And a tag on the inside so I will rember the size I make her dresses.

I don't know what they are looking at here, lol.

Sew Therapy

I was little bummed on Friday so I thought no better way to put myself in a better than to create a new dress for my Sweet pea. There is nothing like sewing therapy!

Is seen this dress over at Cottage Home a a bit ago and just loved it. I tell you I think she could make a potato sack look good!! Any ways, I wanted to make something like it for Sweet pea. I used Stitch n' Save pattern #m6007. All I had to do was change the pattern a bit which wasn't hard at all.  

                                                

 The tangerine fabric I used was Sweet pea's favorite, I only bought a yard of this because at the time they were sold out. :( I am going to have to order more. I also got my lables on Saturdat!! This was a great pick me upper. ;)

I used Heather Baily's rose fabric for the main part of her dress on the one side. I made a tangerine center panel going down the front side with a matching pocket on the side. Sweet pea noticed the pocket right away,lol.

And flip the dress inside out and you'll fine a whole new dress! The other side is covered in polka dots with the rose panel in the center. I like that it has two different looks in one dress.

Green Wrap Around Dress

I am a little sad today. I didn't make it to the next round of 1 Month 2 Win it. :( But I still do love the St. Patties Day dress I made Sweet pea. I was planing to make this dress for her for a while now  and I did finally finish it!

I used my Wrap Around Dress pattern, tutorial can be found here  and this dress from American Girl as my insperation. I put my own little twist on it. :) I added a collar that goes the whole way around, lined with green piping. I also changed the sleeves, I made them gathered with a fitted white cuff on the end, lined with the same green piping. It closes with four white buttons insted of the sash ties.

The sleeves are gathered at the top and has a single pleat in it at the bottom where it goes into the cuff. I am happy with the way it turned out but I am bummed that we didn't make it to another week. We did make it this far though!! :) Better luck next time I hope.

And check out little Sweet pea's hair! It is starting to grow in the back, down to the bottom of her neck! Mabe by summer I can put her hair in piggy tails. ;)

Sweet pea's first Tea Party & a Cross Over Gardern Dress

Sweet pea had her first tea party today! She had blast eating pretty cookies and sipping pretend tea. Her brothers even joined in on the fun. :)

I made Sweet pea a cross over dress out of the Nicey Jane fabric from Heather Bailey. I used the polka dot fabric to make two rows of ruffles on the bottom of the dress, the ruffles go all the way to back of the dress. I made the ruffles by cutting the fabric 2" wide and surge the teh raw edes of the fabric. The buttons are covered with the pink polka dot fabric.

" would you like a cookie?"

I got the cookie recipe from Girl.Inspired. (did I mention that this is one of my favorite blogs?!?)

Sweet pea "helped" make the cookies. This was the first time we made cookie together as Mother and daughter. :) No she didn't help very much but it was fun for the two of us!

Here is the bloomers under her dress. It was made with the ploka dot fabric and I used the flower fabric to make the ruffles on the back.

This dress was a lot of fun to make, I just love making ruffles with my serger! It will be perfect for the hot weather to come (it is going to be in the 80s tommorrow!).
